Utility - Sewer Department Wastewater Treatment The City of Fulton owns a wastewater treatment plant and approximately eighty (80) miles of sewer collection lines with approximately 4,000 connections. The existing wastewater treatment facility was completed in 1987. It is a 3 MGD (million gallon per day) oxidation ditch wastewater treatment facility currently operating at approximately 1.7 MGD. In 1998 the City installed an innovative vacuum-assisted biosolids dewatering system. The new dewatering system reduced biosolids land application requirements from 2,200 truckloads per year of liquid waste to 400 loads per year of the dewatered material.
